Bog was placed in a concrete walled cell. His dog training still fully controlling him. It would be months before he would even be considered to be acting anywhere near human. Hypnosis was a powerful weapon, and with skill, could alter a person in many ways. It was a warping of the mind, making the mind believe it was acting correctly. Constant mind control would be needed to return Bog or Daniel, as the hospital staff would know him, to his former self. Physically, Bog was a human, but the grafted tail was a reality, which would have to be altered at a later date. As for the other alterations, these were all mind warp, and only time and patience would bring about change. Daniel honestly believed he was a dog. He believed and saw that he had a coat of long shiny hair, pads instead of hands, and his hind legs being altered to be dogs. The ears and snout too were figments of his warped mind. No, he was human, but his mind was that of a dog. He had seen the other dog slaves as dogs, and his mind saw them develop features as time warped his own mind. Only patience would help him to recover, and that patience would come from the nursing staff and doctors at the hospital.

Lenny was a trained psychiatric male nurse, trained in personality disorders. Daniels case was not so much a psychiatric disorder, more a destruction of the mind. Lenny had never come across this type of damage before, but was eager to be on the team assisting the doctor treating Daniel. Lenny was gay, but not effeminate. He was not muscular, but had a hidden strength required to gently but firmly subdue patients when required. He was given Daniel to nurse on Daniels admission, and, with one of the other male nurses, went to the cell to clean him up and cloth him in hospital pyjamas. When they entered, Daniel was cowering in the corner, whimpering. He snarled at then when they entered, and the other nurse went to hit him, but Lenny stopped him, and started to talk softly to Daniel, while moving closely with his hand pushed forward. Daniel eyed him, and stoped whimpering, He looked him over, and saw the offered hand. Daniel could smell Lenny, confident and open, but the other nurse smelt of fear. Daniel looked at the other nurse and snarled, but Lenny rebuked him, and told him to stop. Daniel understood the command, and looked at Lenny. Lenny moved closer, hand offered in front of him, and got close enough for Daniel to smell his palm. Daniel sniffed the hand, and started to lick it. Lenny moved closer, until he was on top of Daniel. Daniel did not move, so Lenny pulled his head forward, and cradled it in his arm, talking softly all the time. Daniel nuzzled into Lenny's armpit, and whimpered a little. Lenny hugged him and consoled him. "He just needs some love Ray, he is scared and alone. All he needs is love and a friend. You don't have to be afraid of him. He is just like any stray dog you find on the street. Go grab him some food will you? I will stay here with him till you return." Lenny was calm and talked to Ray softly so as not to alarm Daniel. "Rules say we should not be in here alone with a patient Len. I cannot let you stay alone." Ray was insistent. "Daniel isn't a patient, well not yet, he doesn't even know he exists yet. Its ok, I will be fine. Get the food please, you can turn on the surveillance camera if you like." Ray reluctantly agreed, and left the cell, locking the door behind him. He returned with food on a plate, cutlery, and a glass of water. When Lenny saw the tray of food, he laughed. "He thinks he is a dog, Ray. What's he going to do with a knife and fork, and water in a glass? He only knows how to lap, not drink.

Lenny was very patient with Daniel. He spent several hours in the cell trying to get Daniel to eat off the plate. He did, however, get Daniel to drink water, by holding the glass sideways so Daniel could lap the water. All the time he was in the cell, he held Daniel, and patted and stroked him. He felt sorry for this good-looking guy, duped into slavery. He wanted to help him get back to some form of normality. He left the cell, without getting Daniel to eat. He was concerned for him. Lenny sought out one of the duty doctors, and discussed Daniel. "Doc, I think we have to treat Daniel with a different approach to our normal way. I think we have to allow him to be what he thinks he is, and then retrain him to do tricks at first, leading to human ways, rather than forcing him. I mean, things like standing, sitting, and such. Treat it as a game for him. And food too, he has only been fed dog food or meat, and we should not alter that immediately, but change his diet gradually to include vegetables and other items." The doctor though about what Lenny said, and looked at his pad. "You could be right. The police report said he was trained over a 12-month period as a slave dog, and mind warping drugs and hypnosis were used. He will be hard to change, and it will take time. Ok, let's give it a go, and see how he responds." Lenny nodded, then said. "Doc, we cannot put clothes on him. He will not allow us. He does not know what they are, and he has been taught to piss and shit on the ground. I believe he would be better left as he is at present till he is improved. We have to look at his case differently. The rule of 2 nurses at all times is not required in this case. A dog only responds to one master, and will not work with another. Can I have your permission to work with him alone." The doctor was reluctant to agree, but Lenny had put up a good argument, and finally agreed to trial it for one week.

Lenny went to the kitchens. He saw the head cook, and explained his problem. Lenny knew the cook well, having slept with him on many occasions, and found him easy to convince. He walked away with a chopped up steak, and a plastic bowl of water. Ray wanted to go into the cell with Lenny, but Lenny was insistent, and Ray let him in alone. As he entered, he started to speak softly to Daniel. He placed the water bowl near Daniel, and the bowl of meat next to it. He patted Daniel on the head, and then gave the command to "Eat". Daniel looked at Lenny, and then promptly dived into his meat, woofing it down quickly, finishing off with a good long drink of water. Lenny was pleased, and patted him, then sat next to him on the concrete. Lenny looked over towards the door, and noticed Daniel had relieved himself near the door. That was something he had forgotten about, and would have to tackle sooner rather than later. Lenny left the cell, came back 5 minutes later with a mop and bucket, and an old newspaper. After mopping the area, he placed down the newspaper on top of the area Daniel had peed, and hoped Daniel would use this area till he could figure out something else.

Bedding was simple. The cell had a bed chained to the wall, with a solid flock mattress. Lenny sat on the bed, and called Daniel. Daniel did not recognise his name, and looked at Lenny. Lenny continued to call the name Daniel, and emphasised the name with a gesture, like with his own dog, by slapping his thighs. Daniel edged forward. Lenny continued to call him and slap his thighs, and finally Daniel was next to him. Lenny's next command was "Up," this time slapping the mattress. Daniel knew this command, and jumped on to the bed, and promptly nuzzled Lenny's crutch. Lenny felt himself stir, and pulled Daniels head away. "No, not tonight Daniel, let's leave that for later, maybe. It is time for you to sleep." He gave Daniel a good hug, made sure he stayed on the bed, and left the cell. Lenny went straight to the security room. He wanted to watch Daniel during the night to see his reactions to his new surroundings. But Daniel did not stir, and remained on the bed till Lenny arrived the next morning.

The duty doctor entered with Lenny. He wanted to check Daniel over fully to ascertain any treatment that would be required for any medical condition Daniel might have had, but Daniel was in remarkable condition, although his back was heavily scared form whippings. Lenny and the doctor discussed the notes made by the night doctor, on Lenny's suggestions, and the doctor agreed to go along with the suggestions for the one week, and they would discuss Daniels progress then. Meantime, Lenny was to concentrate on getting Daniels confidence and trust. Lenny smiled, he knew how to gain that.
